Are my photos for sale?

While all of my photographs are copyrighted, they are available for non-exclusive licensing and I also sell large size prints. Contact me via email at greg.jones.design@icloud.com for pricing info.

Welcome

to my personal blog. Here I post examples of my photography and writing. I specialize in making unique and highly detailed photographs. Notice I said making and not taking. Yes I take photos but a lot of time and work is involved in pushing and punishing the pixels in my images to achieve the look I like.

Please feel free make comments about any of my words or photos. I enjoy constructive critiques, learning about locations to shoot or photography techniques. Click on the "Share Article" link to share any of my photos via Flickr, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Want to use one of my posts in your own blog? No problem, but please make sure it links back to the original post here and do the right thing and give me credit. Don't copy my words, crop the images, remove the watermarks or claim my work as your own. This has happened more times than I can count so I've had to report copyright violations to ISP's and regrettably the violators blog is usually taken down.

Can't we all just get along?

A Capital View

A Capital View, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

The reflecting pool, world war II memorial, Washington monument, Smithsonian castle turret and the U.S. Capital building enhance this night shot taken from the base of the Lincoln memorial. Ten exposures were combined to create this image.

Streetcar Layover

Streetcar Layover, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

One of San Francisco's amazingly restored streetcars is pictured here while on a layover. This stop located near fisherman' wharf is my favorite spot to photograph these indcredible rolling works of art.

B29 Enola Gay Panorama

B29 Enola Gay Panorama, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

I mounted my DSLR on my gorilla pod and put it on the ground at the Udvar Hazy Center in Washington D.C. for this 3 shot HDR panorama. Each of the 3 shots consists of 10 exposures. I used Photoshop CS4 to stitch this. Original file size before downsizing for upload was over 14,000 pixels wide.

Animation Building

Animation Building, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

The animation building at Disney California Adventure is a hidden gem. Disney recently gave the building a face lift in an effort to draw more theme park visitors but I often find it fairly empty. This is the central hall and my favorite part of the attraction. Still images and video clips from various Disney/Pixar movies are projected on several huge screens in a constantly changing collage. Special lighting and sound enhances the mood.

Jett Clipper Ella

Jett Clipper Ella, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

Resplendent in its Quantas livery, John Travolta's Boeing 707-138B "Jett Clipper Ella" as seen parked at LAX. This is a classic jet airliner design.

Stop for Aircraft

Stop for Aircraft, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

While we were touring LAX in Kevins car we had to stop for a passing United Express twin prop going by in the fading light, destination unknown.

National Cathedral and Gothic Archway

I was immediately struck by 2 things upon entering the National Cathedral in Washington D.C.
First it's a huge space, probably the largest space I have ever stood in. Second the colored light streaming through the large open space was strikingly beautiful and ethereal.

While framing up this shot I decided to tilt my ultra wide angle lens a little to add a bit of interest. Not sure how well that worked out.

Aureole Las Vegas

Aureole Las Vegas, originally uploaded by big_pixel_pusher.

Stairs leading to the dining room wrap around a 42-foot-high wine tower, built of steel and laminated glass, that holds nearly 10,000 bottles. "Wine Angels" on wires float upward to retreive specific bottles.

I used the Lensbaby composer to create this unusual self portrait.
